Batt Wash – a blend of refractory materials, supplied dry. Mix with water to a consistency of milk and apply to kiln shelves to prevent ware sticking to kiln shelves (will not replace stilts). Batt wash should be used as an addition to stilts in an earthenware firing and an addition to foot ring wiping in a stoneware firing. Apply one thin coat & allow to dry, then apply another. Thick coating eventually cracks and flakes off making an uneven surface.
